Miami Surfer Relives Shark Attack

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – "I just had a bad feeling."
Miami Beach surfing instructor Chucky Luciano Nahed felt trouble coming as he surfed near Daytona last weekend, and trouble was on its way.
"I get bumped from underneath by the shark, and the shark pops up right next to me," Nahed said.
He found himself eye to eye with a 6-foot-long bull shark, a shark known for its aggressive behavior.
"I started to pray, please, please don't bite me," Nahed said.
The shark wasn't listening.
"He just came back at me like at 100 miles an hour, real hard," Nahed said.
He found himself in a fight for his life. He delivered a left-handed fist to the shark's face.
"I kind of just like punched his teeth, and his teeth went in very hard, pretty deep," Nahed said.
The shark came at him again.
"I had to do something to stay alive and I hit him as hard as I could with the right hand," Nahed explained.
The water filled with blood that soaked the victim's clothing. The shark kept circling.
"My darkest thoughts were that I was going to die, I thought I was going to die," Nahed said.
Incredibly, Nahed managed to catch a wave that took him toward shore. He screamed for help and good Samaritans came to his aid. He had to undergo reconstructive surgery on his hands that remain heavily-bandaged.
Now he faces months of healing and therapy.
"It was my worst dream," he said. He has relived the dream in nightmares since the attack.
