Miami Spice Brings Affordable Fine Dining To The Magic City

MIAMI (CBS4) -- Grab a friend and your appetite for another one of South Florida's mouth-watering restaurant promotion events.

Foodies all over South Florida have been waiting for the 10th annual Miami Spice to begin and now its here.

One of the Miami's most popular restaurants is even getting into the spirit, telling CBS4's Lisa Petrillo all about their a creamy vegetable risotto topped with braised short ribs.

"Short ribs we braised for 6 to 8 hours with a red wine reduction. It's great and one of our signature dishes," said Scott Conant, chef and owner of Scarpetta at the Fontainebleau.

More than 130 top local restaurants participate and offer a 3 course menu at bargain prices; lunches run $22 dollars per person and dinners are $35 per person.

"It's a great opportunity," said Scott. "It opens up the restaurants to people who wouldn't normally come to the restaurants and what we decided to do is create all our signature dishes and put them on the menu and make them available for people at really deep discounted prices."

Miami Spice began August 1st and runs for two months until September 30th.
