Miami Police Release Sketch Of Sexual Assault Suspect
(CBSMiami) – Miami police officers hit the streets of one neighborhood Thursday morning handing out sketches of a man who sexually assaulted a girl over the weekend.
The girl, who police said is in her late teens, was walking home on Sunday when a man with a gun ordered her into a vacant home at 510 NW 46th Street. Once inside he sexually assaulted her over the course of two hours.
"This is a person we'd like to get off the street and we are going to do whatever we can to find him," said Miami Police spokesman, Officer Rene Pimentel.
Pimentel told CBS4's Peter D'Oench, "This was a terrible incident. This assault went on for two hours. We believe this suspect lives in the area. Now we want everyone to study our composite sketch which is based on what the victim told us."
Inside the filthy home in Little Haiti are smeared handprints on the wall, garbage, filthy clothing and a mattress.
Officers from the Miami Police Department's Special Victim's Unit canvassed the area Thursday near the home. They passed out fliers hoping for any leads.
"We're looking for this guy who committed a sexual batter in the area. He's probably somewhere around here," Det. Gregory Fluellen of the Miami Police Department said to people in the neighborhood.
Det. Fullen is a father and has worked for SVU for six years.
"As far as catching the guy, that's what we do and we will be finding him," said Fullen adding, "We will track him down."
Neighbors in the area, too, hope the suspect will be caught.
"That could've been me or somebody else's daughter. You have to watch out and be careful what you do," said Mariah Hicks who lives in the neighborhood.
The teen said the man who attacked her was about 6' 1" and 20 to 25 years old. She also said he may speak Creole.
Some neighbors were surprised, but others, like Mary Allen, weren't due to the fact that the area has its fair share of abandoned homes.
"It's just sad because any abandoned house around here—they should tear them down. If the people are not going to take the responsibility to fix these homes up, tear the homes down," said Allen.
Detective Fullen believes that personal interaction with the neighbors is key.
Detective Fullen aided in passing out fliers after an 11-year-old special needs girl was abducted by a man and women and sexually assaulted. Less than two months after passing out the fliers, a tip help led to the man and woman's capture.

As for the filthy house, it's owned by Atlanta-based company Altisource Portfolio Solutions. CBS4's Natalia Zea reached out to the company to find out why this home has been left unsecured but she has yet to hear back.
