Miami Police: Pilfering Pair Shot By Homeowner In Midst Of Burglary
MIAMI (CBS4) - Police say two career criminals burglarized a Miami duplex in broad daylight Friday afternoon.
The homeowner, who did not want to be identified, said the pair was in his home and they ran out without taking any of his belongings.
"They kicked the door if that's how they got in," said the homeowner. "They ransacked my house wrapped things up but didn't take anything."
But that didn't keep the burglars from going into the neighboring unit, right around the time the person who lives there came home because he forgot something.
Police say he was shocked they were there and happened to have a gun on him. He pulled it out. He shot the intruders in the feet and in the legs. It's unclear how many times they were hit.
Neighbors heard the gunshots and called 911 and the burglars were taken to Ryder Trauma Center. The man in the first home hit says he is not sticking around.
"I'm not going to stay here I'm out of here as of today," he said.
The man who police say shot the intruders went with police to give a statement. It is unclear if he will face any charges.
