Two women, one of whom was critically injured, and a police officer were hospitalized after a crash in Miami on Saturday evening, officials said.

First responders were called out to the scene near Northwest 47th Avenue and 7th Street in Flagami around 6:35 p.m., Miami Fire Rescue told CBS News Miami.

When crews arrived, they found a traffic accident involving two cars and two female pedestrians.

Miami Fire and the City of Miami Police confirmed to CBS News Miami that one of the cars involved in the crash was a police vehicle.

One of the female pedestrians was taken to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Miami Fire said another female pedestrian was also taken to JMH in stable condition with lacerations to one of her legs, and as a precaution, the officer involved in the crash was also taken to Ryder Trauma in stable condition.

According to Miami Police's Public Information Officer Kiara Delva, the other driver was evaluated on the scene and didn't need to go to the hospital.

According to the preliminary investigation, the police officer was driving east on 7th Street while the other vehicle was traveling west and attempting to make a left onto 47th to head south when the crash occurred. The pedestrians' involvement in the crash is unclear at this time.

Delva said Miami Police traffic detectives are canvassing the area and looking for any type of surveillance that might have captured what happened as they continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
