Miami Pedestrian Struck By Hit & Run Driver

MIAMI (CBS4) - A pedestrian carrying groceries home is now in the hospital after being struck by a hit and run driver near a bus stop Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the victim was walking along Biscayne Boulevard at 64th Street just after 4 p.m. when he was struck by the car.

The impact was so great it took out a nearby chain link fence, tree, and light pole.

The victim was taken to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in extremely critical condition.

The driver was arrested away from the scene, reportedly trying to flee.  The identity of the driver has no been released.
