Miami PD Looking For 2 People Wanted For Abduction & Sexual Assault Of Child
MIAMI (CBS4) - Detectives with the City of Miami's Special Victims Unit are looking for a man and a woman who abducted and sexually assaulted a young girl.
Police say on Thursday, June 6 at approximately 2:45 p.m., the two men approached the girl at Northwest 15th Avenue and 50th Street. According to police, the girl was driven to an vacant home and sexually assaulted.
The identity of the 11 year old victim has not been released. Police say she was walking home from Allapattah Middle School when she was abducted.
"This is an animal," said Sgt. Freddie Cruz. "This is the only way to describe this person."
The child was dropped off at the same location she was taken from after being assaulted. She was later able give officers a detailed sketch of the male suspect and the location of the sexual assault.
Detectives say the the man described as a white male in his 40-50's, tall, with a large stomach, spiked hair, tattoos on arms (possibly an eagle), and spoke Spanish. He was last seen wearing a green shirt, khaki shorts, and black shoes.
The woman was described as a white female that has purple or dark burgundy hair, spoke Spanish. She was wearing a green shirt, khaki shorts and black shoes.
While the victim's mother declined to speak to reporter's, the family's Pastor, Rev. Harriet Wilson Green, said the entire neighborhood is now on alert.
"Our concern as a Pastor, as a parents, in our neighborhood. Our kids are out for the summer. Safety is first," she said.
Rev. Green and several other members of the community helped search for the child in the hours after she failed to come home from school last Thursday.
They say they are concerned police didn't activate an Amber Alert immediately and that it took four calls to Miami Police before they say law enforcement sprang into action.
"We don't want this to happen to any other kids in OUR area. In our neighborhood. To no children. In particular our area has been targeted. He's a predator and he's in our area," said neighbor Helen Meadow.
Rev. Green says she has information that this abduction is not the first of a child in this neighborhood in recent weeks, and says she plans to share that information with Police out of concern sexual predators are focusing on this area.
"What we have is somebody who saw a little girl who was small and couldn't defend herself and snatched her and grabbed her," said Community Activist Regina Davis.
