Miami Kids Crowned Winners Of "Live To Dance"

MIAMI (CBS4) – Two young Miami kids have been crowned the winner of Paula Abdul's "Live To Dance." On Wednesday's night finale, D'Angelo Castro & Amanda Carbajales, ages 9 and 10, were named "The Best Dance Act in America."

"I'm going to go to Disney World!" Castro declared upon winning the $500,000 grand prize.

They beat the other youngster in the finale, Kendall Glover, 10, who came in second.

There were a total of six groups in the finale, and of those 6, 3 acts were from South Florida. 2 of them dance at Dancetown Studio in Doral, including D'Angelo and Amanda who hugged each other as fireworks went off after the announcement.

"I was very surprised so many people loved us and wanted to vote for us," said Castro.

At their home studio, Dancetown, dozens of fellow dancers gathered and screamed at the top of their lungs when the winners were announced.

The young ballroom dancing duo makes dancing look simple. But it's not.

"It's fun when he lifts me cause I get to go up in the air, and it's really fun, but I know it's hard for him cause we're like the same size," explained Carbajales.

One of the local groups who also made it to the finale is "Twitch", a dance act made up of 8 girls and 1 guy, has contorted, convulsed, and pirouetted their way into the viewers' hearts.

One of the dancer's brothers is proud they did so well.

"They didn't lose because they went this far, they all got a great experience," said Kevin Cosculleula.

Another South Florida team, the all-guy "Dance Town Chaos" impressed judges all the way to the finale.

"Dance Town Chaos" is happy to prove to the bullies that dancing isn't just for girls.

"Now they realize my dancing isn't feminine, it's masculine and I've been getting positive feedback from all the kids at my school," said one of their members.

In addition to using their prize money for college, D'Angelo said he wants to give some of the money to Dancetown so they can move into a new studio.
