Miami Heat Sign Forward Chris Johnson
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The Miami Heat announced on Friday afternoon they signed 29-year-old forward Chris Johnson.
Johnson has been in the league three years and has played on four different teams in that span; Portland, Boston, New Orleans and Minnesota.
His career averages are 2.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 8.4 minutes while shooting 56 percent from the field. Though Johnson is considered a league veteran, he has appeared in only 71 regular season games, four postseason games and has only started once.
The Heat didn't sign Johnson for his weak NBA credentials, but for what he did playing in China.
In his 29 games for the Zhejiang Guangsha Lions during the 2013-14 season, Johnson averaged 20 points, almost 12 rebounds, 2 blocks and shot nearly 59 percent from the field.
With the addition of Johnson, the Heat's roster is now at the 20-player cap.
