Miami Heat Help Underprivileged Families Score Big Before Thanksgiving

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami Heat players did more than dish out baskets on Friday. The organization hosted its 24th Annual Heat Thanksgiving Celebration that assisted underprivileged families.
The festivities were held from 2:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. at the Miami Rescue Mission at 2020 NW 1st Ave.
The entire organization, including all the Heat players, attended the event.
All residents of the Greater Miami area were invited, but the event was especially meaningful for a select group of approximately 600 underprivileged families.
Each handpicked family received a complete Thanksgiving meal – replete with a turkey, canned goods, side items and beverages.
Another 450 hot meals were provided to the residents of the MRM.
This year's celebration helped communities from Overtown, Wynwood, Little Havana, Little Haiti, Liberty City, Homestead and Fort Lauderdale.
The Heat Dancers, Burnie the Heat mascot, DJ M Dot and the Xtreme Team were also there to entertainment the families.
