Miami Drops One Spot To Sixth In AP Poll
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Duke Blue Devils had to have 36 points from starter Ryan Kelly to knock off the Miami Hurricanes by just three points on Saturday. While the Canes took a loss, it didn't impact the team's ranking very much this week.
The Hurricanes dropped to number six in the country with the loss at Duke. Miami had been ranked fifth last week and was ranked second in the country the week before that.
The top five, as voted on by the Associated Press are: Gonzaga, Indiana, Duke, Kansas, and Georgetown.
Miami has lost two of its last three games after opening conference play undefeated. The Hurricanes have already claimed at least half of the regular season ACC title and can win the title outright with one more victory this year.
Miami plays two teams with losing records this week, Georgia Tech on Wednesday and Clemson on Saturday to finish off the regular season. Miami will likely receive a first-round bye in the ACC Tournament.
The ACC Tournament will tip off on March 14 and run through March 17.
