Miami-Dade's Employment Numbers Improve A Bit
MIAMI-DADE (CBS4) - Miami-Dade has released their employment numbers for October and they're up just slightly of the previous month.
According to the Office of Economic Development and International Trade, last month the number of county residents with jobs increased by almost 29-hundred; that was up nearly .1 percent over the September figures and .2 percent compared to October 2009.
The biggest job gains came in the private sector in the wholesale, leisure & hospitality and health services trades.
However, in October, the number of people looking for work increased by more than 51-hundred which drove the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate up to 13 percent. For the past three months, initial unemployment claims in Miami-Dade County have been considerably lower than last year.
