Fireworks Light Up Miami-Dade Skies For 4th Of July

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Bayfront Park was once again ready for another yearly bash, celebrating America's birthday.
Thousands of people showed up for the 4th of July fireworks show by land and sea.
Some like the Cruz family got there at noon.
"Drinks, food, arepas, we're good," said Taylor Cruz.
"I'm a refugee from Cuba. I came in 1971, so I respect this country so much. It has given us so much to look for and my kids were born here. They were born in New York. So I'm very thankful," added John Cruz.
It was a great night for everybody. Even for those who just became citizens, like Nicolas Machado.
"It's my first year as a citizen here so it's cool. It brings a lot of people together. It's a cool way to hang out with different people from the community" he said.
This free event, which started at 2 p.m., had live music and a family fun zone full of activities for kids and adults alike.
The food, music and fun helped attract this large crowd to Bayfront, but everyone was staying for the much anticipated grand finale.
"It was really perfect. It was a really amazing time and I really enjoyed the fireworks," said John Uslu.
"It was amazing, man. Right by the water. You've got the fresh air, good people, good food. It was awesome," said Jesse Lee.

Meantime, the tourist favorite of Miami Beach is holding a free event for the public called 'Fire On The Fourth' Festival at the North Shore Park Bandshell. This all-day event was free to the public. DJ's provided music and there was also live entertainment. There were food vendors available to keep visitors fed and hydrated.
Free shuttles traveled around the area all day to provide transportation to attendees. Their fireworks display also started at 9 p.m.
Around Miami-Dade County, revelers took part in celebrating July 4th.
Law enforcement and rescue crews are urged people to stay safe, whether on land or sea.

Key Biscayne's 4th of July parade will begin at 11 a.m. and will be followed by festivities at the Village Green. The parade will feature floats, marching bands, jets flying overhead, and lots more. The Kiwanis Club will be sponsoring the picnic that will take place on the Village Green. Visitors can leave and come back for the fireworks show or make it a full day by going to the beach and enjoying the sunshine. But if you leave, make sure to come back early enough to get a good seat for the fireworks display at 9 p.m.

Black Point Park Marina, located right next to Biscayne National Park, is the site of a spectacular 4th of July celebration. Head out early and enjoy the day fishing, diving, or exploring the beauty that can be found at Biscayne National Park. Food is available at the Black Point Ocean Grill or bring your own food and have a picnic at the park. Bring a blanket or a chair and stake your spot to watch the fireworks at sunset.
