Miami-Dade police officer out on bond after DUI arrest while on duty
MIAMI - A Miami-Dade police officer is out of jail on bond Wednesday after being arrested for driving under the influence while on duty.
According to the arrest report, Victor Montalvo was driving westbound on Southwest 72nd Street Tuesday afternoon in an unmarked vehicle when he hit an occupied police vehicle.
Police say the parked car was on an off-duty detail, blocking a lane of traffic to protect road workers.
Both officers were hurt in the crash.
Miami-Dade Police Director Stephanie Daniels says the officer has been relieved of duty and the department will continue to work with the state attorney's office during the judicial process.
Montalvo walked out of TGK on a $2,000 bond and is facing charges of DUI and causing property damage.
