Miami-Dade Chase Ends With A Connection To A North Miami Beach Crime
MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A police chase through Miami-Dade County for an armed robbery suspect ended with a connection to another crime.
Chopper 4 flew over the scene at Northeast 2nd court and northeast 58 Terrace Tuesday afternoon.
North Miami Beach police said their officers spotted a suspicious Blue Nissan. When officers pulled the driver over, he turned out to be wanted for an armed robbery back in November.
Now police believe the suspect could be the second person of interest in the kidnapping and rape of a North Miami Beach woman.
North Miami Beach police arrested another person, a juvenile, in connection to the crime over the weekend. His name is not being released due to his age. The arrested juvenile was charged with armed sexual battery, armed carjacking, armed kidnapping, and possession of marijuana.
On January 16, the woman was walking back to her car after picking up food from a restaurant at 1026 North Miami Beach Blvd. when she was approached by at least two males wearing black gloves and armed with handguns. The woman was forced into the back seat of a van and driven to the Oak Grove Area in north Miami-Dade County where, police said, she was sexually assaulted by several people.
They then drove her to various locations in the North Miami-Dade County/North Miami Beach area including several fast food restaurants and gas stations, before she was dropped off near her home.
