Miami Beach Police Looking For Man Who Shot At Jeep On Christmas Eve
MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) - There was a wild scene, Christmas Eve, on Miami Beach, a surveillance camera captured a man running after Jeep while shooting at it.
According to police, just after midnight, they received a 911 call about a shooting near 14th Street and Washington Avenue. Arriving officers spotted several spent shell casings on the ground and people who saw what had happened.
They were then able to find the victims who described what had happened.
Miami Beach Police spokesman Officer Ernesto Rodriguez told CBS4's Peter D'Oench, "The victim was apparently leaving a parking spot and grazed a parked vehicle.
The owner of that parked vehicle or the occupant of that parked vehicle was later seen chasing the victim down with a gun in his hand firing multiple shots at his vehicle. A bullet struck that vehicle, but thankfully the impact was absorbed by the vehicle door and only caused minor bruising to the female passenger."
"Thankfully the victim was not injured seriously and this could've been much worse," he added.
Miami Beach police have released a photo of the subject and a woman he was with, they've asked for the public's help in identifying them.
Miami Beach police are very concerned about this shooting incident.
"It is Christmas Eve, just after midnight, and this is very concerning because this happened over what appeared to be a minor traffic crash. Multiple shots were fired and we want to find the people involved," said Rodriguez.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477).
