Miami Beach Mayor, Commission Remember Those Killed In Paris Attacks

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine led the commission in a somber ceremony Wednesday morning to remember and honor the men and women who lost their lives in the recent terrorist attacks in Paris.
"We have a very large French community in South Florida and we recognize the hurt and pain. What happened in Paris not only affected the French people, it was also against the American people and the free world," said Levine.
In attendance at the ceremony was Philippe Letrilliart, the Consul General of France in Miami.
"I wanted to come here to share this moment we are still in our national mourning. I really wanted to share this moment of solidarity with our American friends," said Letrilliart.

During the ceremony Levine presented Letrilliart with a key to the city in an act of solidarity between Miami Beach and France.
Letrilliart accepted it, calling it "a great honor." He then thanked South Florida for their overwhelming support and unity during this difficult time.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, commissioners were presented with a pen that came with a paper inscription which read, "The pen is mightier than the sword a moment of silence to unite against terrorism and stand up for our right to freedom of speech."
