Miami Beach Gives Preliminary Thumbs Up To New Dog Beach
MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami/Miami Herald) — Dog lovers will be happy to know a new spot to walk their pooches could soon be a reality on Miami Beach.
The City Commission, Wednesday, preliminarily voted to allow dogs on the sand in North Beach.
Dogs would be allowed off-leash between 80th and 82nd Streets between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, CBS4 news partner, The Miami Herald reported.
Dog owners will need to purchase a pass issued by the city. Their dogs will also need a current rabies tag, collar and name tag.
A daily pass would cost $5 for residents or $10 for non-residents.
Annual passes would also be available for $20 for residents or $50 for non-residents the first year the dog beach is in operation.
After the first year, the fee would jump to $50 for residents and $100 for non-residents thereafter.
A final vote is scheduled for a commission meeting at 5:30 p.m. May 28 at City Hall, 1700 Convention Center Drive.
