Miami Beach Bowl To Be Held At Marlins Park
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The American Athletic Conference confirmed what has been known for weeks; the conference will host the annual Miami Beach Bowl starting next season. It just won't be played on Miami Beach.
The AAC is made up of teams left over from the Big East Conference, which ended before this season. The opponent for the AAC team will most likely come from one of the smaller conferences: the Mid-American, the Sun Belt, or Conference USA.
The game will be held at Marlins Park, which sits on the site of the old Orange Bowl. The stadium was designed to hold 36,000 for baseball, but also put together to try to attract football and soccer events.
Minor bowls with tie-ins to the AAC will also begin next year at Florida Atlantic University's stadium in Boca Raton, Fla., and in Nassau, Bahamas.
