MIA Expecting Half-Million Passengers Over Weekend
MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — If you're flying through Miami International Airport this holiday weekend, you may want to give yourself just a little bit of extra time before heading out for your flight.
Miami International Airport said Wednesday that it's expecting more than 550,000 passengers traveling through the airport between Wednesday and Sunday.
The Fourth of July fell on a Wednesday last year, and airport officials say weekend numbers usually spike because of cruise vacationers.
Greg Chin, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Aviation Department, said travelers should try to get to the airport at least two hours before their flight this weekend because they expect large crowds and lines may be longer than usual.
