Memorial Held For Victim Of Deadly Hit & Run

MAIMI (CBSMiami) -- The mother of a man killed in a hit and run crash now wants to help save the lives of others.
Police are still looking for the driver who struck Pedro Gonzalez.
At a special service celebrating Gonzalez's life Saturday his mother, Carmen Montoya, told CBS4 her life now had a new purpose.
"This is something that can happen to anybody," Montoya said. "My son is gone and I can't stress that hit and runs need to stop."
A car hit Gonzalez as he walked his dog along NW 12 Avenue in Little Havana on Saturday, November 21. The 2006 green Chrysler 300 sedan can be seen in surveillance video as it hit Gonzalez and drove away.
Miami police want to speak to 25-year old Bayron Villalobos of Honoduras. They found the damaged Chrysler at the Miami home of Villalobos' parents. But they've been unable to locate Villalobos.
Montoya told Reporter Donna Rapado she plans to go to Tallahassee to help push for change to hit and run laws in Florida. Among the changes she hopes for are dual license tags and better lighting to help people identify hit and run drivers.
"I'm going to try and enforce an act in the name of my son," Montoya said. "I'm not coming out with something new. There are some states that do that. The life of my son was taken. And even though some people don't understand, I'm fighting for you."
