Man killed after argument turned to shooting inside Miami-Dade business, authorities say
A man is dead after police said a heated argument led to a shooting at a Miami-Dade business on Wednesday morning, deputies say.
According to Medley police, officers responded to a truck yard business in the area of Northwest 109th Street and South River Drive for reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived at the scene, they said they learned that a verbal argument between two people inside led to the incident.
"Two individuals got into a verbal altercation at which time one of them armed themselves with a firearm and ended up shooting the victim," said Sgt. Luis Rivera of the Medley Police Department.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said the victim was rushed to a hospital on a medical helicopter for treatment. The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office confirmed that the victim later died Wednesday afternoon and they will be taking over the investigation now that it's a fatal shooting.
It remains unclear whether the two individuals were employees or visitors. However, authorities emphasized there is no broader threat to the community.
"We do want to make it clear that there is no threat to the public or any business in the area. Our officers have the investigation and the scene contained, and as of now we're continuing our investigation oere," Rivera said.
The shooter has not been identified. Deputies said the suspect was also transported to the hospital for medical treatment and is expected to be charged following release.
