Medical Report Documents Zimmerman's Injuries On Night Of Shooting
SANFORD (CBS4) - George Zimmerman's attorney released a report Tuesday showing the injuries he sustained the night he fatally shot an unarmed Miami teen at an apartment complex in Sanford.
The three-page medical report shows that the day after Zimmerman shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, a doctor confirmed that Zimmerman had two lacerations on the back of his head. However, the physician wrote "no sutures [or stitches] needed."
Zimmerman has long said that Trayvon punched him and broke his nose. On that, the doctor wrote Zimmerman's nose was "likely broken," but "does not appear to have septal deviation," meaning the nose wasn't deformed in a way that might cause breathing problems.
As far as Zimmerman's head, the doctor wrote it was "normocephalic" and "atraumatic." In other words: normal and without trauma. Zimmerman has said Trayvon was slamming his head against the sidewalk.
The doctor also wrote that Zimmerman refused to see an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist.
Zimmerman is still locked up in Seminole County, facing a second degree murder charge for the death of Trayvon Martin.
A judge said Tuesday that he will decide on Thursday whether or not to allow Zimmerman to go free on bond.
