McCartney Kicks Off Tour In Orlando
ORLANDO (CBSMiami/AP) — Former Beatles star Paul McCartney's North American tour kicks off Saturday night in Orlando, and if the elaborate production equipment involved is any indication, spectators are in for a quite the show.
McCartney's "Out There" tour requires 31 trucks worth of equipment, including spectacular lasers and lighting, huge pyrotechnics, and state-of-the-art video displays, according to the singer's website. Set lists include songs from McCartney's time with the Beatles, Wings and from his solo career.
McCartney performed the show to a sold-out crowd of 55,000 people in Brazil earlier this month, playing "Band on the Run", "Hey Jude", "Yesterday" and "Let It Be." The nearly three-hour show opened with "Eight Days A Week," which McCartney had previously only played live once with The Beatles in 1965.
He will perform at Orlando's Amway Center on Saturday and Sunday night. The Orlando Sentinel reports it is McCartney's only performance in Florida.
At one point during the show, McCartney is raised 20 feet above the stage on a special riser as he performs "Blackbird" and "Here Today" acoustically, according to his website.
The tour will travel across six countries in the coming months.
Earlier this year, McCartney won a Grammy in the best traditional pop vocal album category for "Kisses on the Bottom," bringing his Grammy tally to 16.
