Mayor Gimenez To Travel To Haiti
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez will visit Haiti on Monday to view recovery efforts since the January 2010 earthquake.
Gimenez will make the trip with Commissioner Jean Monestime, the county's first Haitian commissioner.
The pair will meet with business leaders in Port au Prince and Gimenez hopes to bolster trade between the county and country, according to CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald. One way he plans to do that is by signing a sisters agreement between Miami International Airport and Toussaint Louverture International in Port au Prince. The agreement will promote passenger and cargo traffic between to the two airports.
