'Math Meeting' Ultimate Highs In YouTube Views
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A South Florida math tutor is taking his talents to new heights. The Broward native is fueling a new cyber-trend with his online math tutorials.
Music videos and mishaps, like Beyonce's now famous fan incident, are the norm on YouTube's most watched list. But now, math is becoming quite the trend.
With several million views on YouTube, Chris Seber doesn't plan on stopping anytime soon.
Ft. Lauderdale math tutor Seber is leading the way with his YouTube channel, Math Meeting.
"I had no idea it would be this popular," said the self-proclaimed math geek. "There's a need for education and some kids aren't responding well to their teachers."
That is where Seber said his Math Meeting channel comes in. He believes that any student struggling with a math concept can browse the Math Meeting channels and find a quick and direct tutorial on subjects ranging from pre-algebra to advanced calculus.
"My goal is just to dumb it down and simplify it and really just teach it well," said Seber.
According to Seber, the majority of his users are between the ages of 12 and 22.
"They don't want the authoritative figure. They just want to go home and get their smart phones and figure it out on their own."
Seber believes his online approach is the wave of the future.
"I'm in the 1st part of the stage, but in five to10 years from now, what I do will be much more commonplace. It's definitely heading in that direction."
Seber couldn't legally give any specifics about how much money he makes from the Math Meeting, but he has commercials run before his videos, so he is definitely pulling in some ad revenue.
