Match Day Arrives For UM Medical Students
CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) - It's not quite match.com, but a group of senior medical students at the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine found out Friday who they were matched with to do their residency training.
The 159 students from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine joined their colleagues at medical schools across the country on Friday for Match Day.
A university statement says each student was called on and handed an envelope. Inside was the name of the residency training program they have been matched with. In many cases, it will be their first choice, but not always.
This is also considered the crucial "first step" to practicing medicine. It marks the transition from eight years of college and medical school to a lifetime of perfecting the art of healing.
