Marshall Plan: Get A New Quarterback
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall has always had elite skills, but as he proved Sunday, all it takes is a quarterback who can get him the ball and he will completely redefine a team's offense.
Marshall had four touchdown catches during Sunday's NFL Pro Bowl. For comparison, he's had nine total touchdown catches for the past two seasons.
Obviously, the Fins' lack of a quarterback is holding back not only the offense, but also Marshall.
"Quarterbacks make it easier for me," Marshall told a NBC sideline reporter during the Pro Bowl, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "These guys are putting it in the right places and I'm making plays. It's easy right now."
Just how easy was it for Marshall? His best catch of the night was an acrobatic reception that saw him fall on his back and kick the ball to himself past defenders.
And Marshall isn't wasting any time trying to line up a solid quarterback for the Miami Dolphins next season.
Marshall has reportedly reached out to Matt Flynn, who could become a Dolphins target; and plans to reach out to Peyton Manning if he's released by the Colts.
The NFL is a quarterback-driven league and Sunday's performance by Marshall proved that theory and proved why the Dolphins have been stuck in neutral since Dan Marino left the team.
