Marlins Win Tenth Straight
JUPITER, Fla. (CBS4) - The Florida Marlins continued their torrid pace to end the month of March on Tuesday by beating the St. Louis Cardinals 4-2 in Jupiter, Florida.
Starting pitcher Javier Vazquez powered the Marlins victory. He allowed one run, struck out four, and walked one in 6 2/3 innings. Vazquez went 1-1 with a 4.57 ERA in his five spring starts.
Cardinals pitcher left-hander Jaime Garcia struck out seven over six innings in his best start of the spring. He gave up one run and three hits.
The Marlins scored three runs in the eighth inning. Scott Cousins had a run-scoring double and Aaron Mathews added a sacrifice fly.
