Marlins Weighing Best Nolasco Trade Partner
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – With the Major League Baseball trade deadline looming, the Miami Marlins are actively shopping starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco to teams needing a number three or four starter for their rotation.
According to CBSSports.com, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Baltimore Orioles, San Francisco Giants, Texas Rangers, and Colorado Rockies are talking with the Fish to acquire the rights to acquire Nolasco.
According to CBSSports' report, the Dodgers are believed to be the favorite because they might take on some of the $5.5 million remaining on Nolasco's contract. The Rockies have offered what CBSSports.com described as "two pretty decent prospects," but don't want to pay the salary.
Nolasco was the only high-priced player to survive the salary/roster purge the Marlins carried out last November. He had a salary of more than $11 million for this season and will be a free agent at the end of the 2013 season.
