Marlins Trying Anything To Sell A Ticket
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – By this point in the franchise's history, nothing the Miami Marlins try to get fans out to Marlins Park is that surprising. Still, sometimes it appears the powers that be in charge of the Marlins may be ready to try out for the sequel to 'Dumb & Dumber.'
The Marlins latest ticket selling plan is Gio Gonzalez Family & Friends night, according to CBSSports.com, for this weekend's series.
While teams often promote their own players, and even ex-players returning to play for the home team; the problem Marlins fans may have with this is Gonzalez is a starting pitcher for the Washington Nationals.
Gonzalez is a native of Hialeah, but he's never put on a Marlins uniform. However, there are a plethora of players in Major League Baseball right now who are from either Miami or South Florida. (FYI, Baseball-Almanac.com listed 65 players in baseball history from Miami)
CBSSports.com said it was unknown what fans would have to do to prove they were actually friends or family of Gonzalez in order to receive the group discount. The discount offers home plate Box D tickets for $38, baseline reserved for $20, and vista box B for $13.
In case you were wondering, Gonzalez is not scheduled to pitch against the Marlins during this weekend's series. Plenty of tickets are still available for the weekend series.
