Marlins To Open MLB Season April 4
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The Florida Marlins may be the laughing stock of Major League Baseball, but on April 4, 2012 the Marlins and its new stadium will be the focus of the baseball world.
Major League Baseball announced Wednesday that the 2012 season will start with the soon-to-be renamed Miami Marlins facing off against the St. Louis Cardinals. It will be the only game scheduled for opening day.
The game will be a chance for the Marlins to show off their brand new stadium that is currently on schedule to open by the 2012 exhibition season.
After the Marlins and Cardinals tangle on opening day, more teams begin the season with Boston at Detroit and Atlanta at the Mets highlighting the schedule.
The Marlins will have an off day before heading to Cincinnati to battle the Reds starting April 6.
