Marlins Start Spring Training With 6-3 Victory
JUPITER, Fla. (CBS4) - The Florida Marlins started off their Spring Training campaign with a 6-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals Monday afternoon.
Matt Dominguez smashed a two-run homer and Gaby Sanchez was 2 for 2 with a two-run double to help lead the Marlins to victory. Sanchez was batting cleanup in place of Mike Stanton who is recovering from a quadriceps strain.
Marlins pitcher Anibal Sanchez allowed two hits in two innings to pace the pitching staff.
Lance Berkman was 2 for 2 with a home run for St. Louis. Albert Pujols went 0 for 2 for the Cardinals, who announced during the game that right-hander Adam Wainwright had elbow ligament-replacement surgery earlier in the day in St. Louis.
