Marlins Reveal Spring Training Plans
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The Miami Marlins will be returning to their spring training home in Jupiter, Florida on February 22nd in anticipation of the first season in the new Marlins stadium.
The Marlins announced Tuesday that the team will play 14 home games at Roger Dean Stadium starting March 6th, 2012 for their spring training schedule. The Marlins will play a total of 29 Grapefruit League games.
But the biggest games of spring training will not be at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter. The Marlins are set to debut the new stadium with a pair of exhibition games against the New York Yankees.
The Yankee exhibition games will be held on April 1 and 2 and will start at 1:10 p.m. on April 1 and 7:10 p.m. on April 2.
Marlins pitchers and catchers will report to the team's spring training home starting February 22.
Position players will then report four days later on the 26th with the first full-squad practice taking place that afternoon.
The team said that all full-season and partial-plan ticket holders for the new stadium will have the first chance at buying tickets to the Yankees exhibition games.
