Marlins Release 2013 Schedule
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Marlins will start the 2013 season by facing the likely NL East division champion Washington Nationals starting April 1, 2013 in Washington, D.C.
Major League Baseball released the 2013 schedule Wednesday. The Marlins will be looking to rebuild after a disastrous 2012 season ended with the team in a freefall for most of the season.
One week after opening the season in Washington, Miami will return home to Marlins Park to start a nine-game homestand starting with the Atlanta Braves. The Marlins will start interleague play on April 22-23 with a two-game series against the Minnesota Twins in Minneapolis.
The second interleague series in 2013 for the Marlins will match up Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen against his former team, the Chicago White Sox. Guillen both played and managed the White Sox and helped take them to the 2005 World Series championship.
The Marlins will finish the season with an interleague matchup with the Detroit Tigers from September 27-29, 2013 at Marlins Park.
