Marlins May Be "The Franchise" On Showtime
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – After the Miami Marlins hired manager Ozzie Guillen and acquired Carlos Zambrano to a roster that already had Hanley Ramirez; it looked like must-see TV, and apparently Showtime has agreed.
According to Variety, Showtime and Major League Baseball are said to be nearing a deal to make the Miami Marlins 2012 season, the centerpiece of the cable network's "The Franchise."
The show, which last year featured the San Francisco Giants' attempt to repeat as World Series champions, drew roughly 651,000 viewers, according to the Variety report.
"The Franchise" would embed cameras with the team over several months to capture both on-field and off-field action.
Given Guillen and Zambrano's fiery personalities, both could be fixtures on the show. Add in Hanley Ramirez's antics and Logan Morrison's Twitter feed and the show could be a can't miss when it starts to air at a later date.
