Marlins Finish Sweep Of Nationals, 5-2
WASHINGTON (CBSMiami.com) – The Florida Marlins completed a three-game sweep of the Washington Nationals with a 5-2 victory Thursday afternoon.
The Marlins were led by power-hitting outfielder Mike Stanton who smashed his 24th home run of the season and the fourth in six games.
Stanton's homer put him in a tie for second-place for home runs in the National League.
The Fish used a total of six pitchers in the victory, with Brian Sanches getting the victory. Florida's relief pitchers held the Nationals to one run over 5.1 innings of work.
