Marlins Fall To Nats In Extra Innings, 3-2
MIAMI (AP) - Adam LaRoche hit a tiebreaking sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th and the Washington Nationals escaped a jam in the bottom of the inning to break a three-game losing streak by beating the Florida Marlins 3-2 Friday.
Washington won despite striking out 15 times.
Florida had runners at the corners with none out in the 10th, but Drew Storen (2-1) got two outs, and Sean Burnett retired Chris Coghlan on a flyout for his fourth save in six chances.
Washington beat Florida for only the third time in their past 15 meetings. The Marlins have lost consecutive games for the first time since April 10-12.
Jayson Werth walked for the third time in the 10th against Mike Dunn (2-2), then advanced to third when Laynce Nix hit a high-hopper over first base for a double. LaRoche followed with his RBI fly to deep left.
