Marlins Express Interest In Veteran Closer Rafael Soriano

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Marlins are in need of some stability at the back of their bullpen and may be looking outside of the organization for help.
Following Steve Cishek's fourth blown save in seven opportunities, including two in back-to-back games, manager Mike Redmond has already said that he's going to give someone else an opportunity to close games.
Unfortunately for the Marlins, there isn't anyone else in their bullpen with much experience in the closer role.
While Redmond plans to mix and match with guys like A.J. Ramos, Mike Dunn and Bryan Morris, the front office is exploring other possibilities.
According to multiple sources, Miami has been in contact with veteran closer Rafael Soriano who has yet to be signed after finishing last season with the Washington Nationals.
Soriano has plenty of closing experience and was one of the best in the majors but had some trouble during the second half of last season and lost his job as the Nationals closer.
It's expected that Marlins general manager Dan Jennings and Soriano's agent Scott Boras will speak sometime on Tuesday in Los Angeles. Miami is in town to play the Dodgers and Boras attends many of their home games, so it will be easy for them to meet up.
The Marlins expressed some interest in Soriano during the offseason but elected to pursue Francisco Rodriguez instead.
Miami offered Rodriguez a 2-year deal worth $10 million but he ended up re-signing with Milwaukee for $3 million more than what the Marlins offered.
