March For Immigration Reform Draws Thousands To Little Havana
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – On Saturday, thousands of South Floridians marched to "Say Yes" to a new immigration system, one that proponents tout as a real and inclusive path to citizenship for 11 million aspiring Americans.
The march was the first of many taking place nationwide and leading up to a Washington, D.C. march on Wednesday.
The march began at12pm in Little Havana's Jose Marti Park and ended at the Torch of Friendship in Bayfront Park.
Families who say they've been affected by U.S. immigration policy shared the stage with Miami Archbishop Wenski, City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, and several faith leaders, elected officials and artists. The purpose: urge Congress to file an immigration reform bill immediately.
