Man Shot To Death In Miramar Driveway
MIRAMAR (CBSMiami) – An investigation is underway after a man was shot and killed in front of a home near County Line Road and NW 2nd Avenue in Miramar.
Chopper 4 over the scene in the 6100 block of SW 41st Street spotted a body covered by a yellow tarp lying beside a silver sedan parked in the driveway of a home.
Miramar police spokeswoman Tania Rues confirmed that the man in his 20s was fatally shot around 9 a.m. Witnesses report hearing multiple shots.
Family identified the man who died as 23-year old Joey Delancy.
Witnesses told CBS4 that the suspects, in a red car, drove up to the house as Delancy was coming out. They said Delancy had been inside visiting a friend. During a confrontation with those from the red car, Delancy was shot and killed.
Police said the gunman, or gunmen, sped off in a red Nissan Altima after the shooting.
A short time after the shooting police surrounded the city's civic center compex at 2300 Civic Center Place, about seven miles north of the murder scene, and detained two males in front of the library.
Police found the Altima used in the shooting at the plaza.
Rues confirms there are three suspects detained and are being questioned.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting. Delancy had only one prior arrest in 2011 where he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon during some sort of domestic dispute. The case was eventually dropped.
