Police: Man Shoots Officer In Foot, Then Runs Away
WEST KENDALL - (CBSMiami.com) -Police continue to hunt for the man who they say shot a Miami-Dade police officer in the foot and then fled.
The incident occurred late Friday in the area around Southwest 260th Street and Southwest 130th Avenue. The officer had a confrontation with 24-year-old Durall Jessie Miller who is now on the lam, Miami-Dade police said.
"An officer was involved and was shot in the foot. He was transported to the hospital in good condition," said Lt. Roseanna Cordero-Stutz. "We consider him to be armed and dangerous."
Police did not describe the series of events that led to the shooting. A perimeter was set up in the area and SWAT and K-9 units saturated the neighborhood searching for Miller.
Anthony Valdez heard chatter on his scanner and a police helicopter searching above the scene.
"I don't respect people who do stupid stuff," he said. "Hopefully, they'll find the guy. We don't need these people around here."
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue tells CBS4 News that the injured officer was taken to Baptist Hospital for treatment and released Saturday.
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
