Man Sentenced To Life For Role In Deadly Miramar Brinks Robbery
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – One of the men arrested in connection with a deadly Brinks robbery last year learned his fate in a Broward courtroom Friday.
Nathaniel Moss, 33, was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty for his part in the October 2010 murder of a Brinks security guard Alejandro Nodarse Arencibia during a robbery outside a Miramar Bank of America.
According to the FBI, Moss, along with Terrance Brown, 38, Toriano "Slick" Johnson, 34, and Daryl Davis, 45, planned and carried out the attack and robbery as Arencibia, 48, carried a bag containing $397,500 to the bank.
Nathaniel Moss, wearing a bright orange traffic safety vest, put a gun to Arencibia's head and shot, according to the FBI.
Another man at the scene, identified with a street name of "Soldier," grabbed the bag of money and both Soldier and Moss took off in a white Toyota Camry. The duo crashed the Camry into a dumpster and took off on foot, according to the FBI. Inside the Camry FBI agents found the Brinks bag containing $395,000, another $2,500 was recovered outside the Bank of America.
Moss was found hiding in bushes near the dumpster. Police found a bright orange traffic safety vest near him and, according to the FBI, he was wearing a bullet-proof vest and had a pair of pliers and a pair of latex gloves with him.
A witness reportedly told the FBI that they saw two men get into a silver Honda Civic near where Moss was found. The Civic was found abandoned around a mile away from the scene.
Once in custody, Moss cooperated law enforcement as part of a deal to avoid the death penalty.
Moss said that he, Brown, Johnson, Davis and Soldier had originally planned the robbery for September 17th but a car accident near the bank brought police close to the scene.
According to the FBI, Moss said he and Soldier were to be the gunmen while Brown, Johnson, and another participant Laquisha Davis, 34, served as lookouts for both robberies. The FBI did not elaborate on what roles Dansby and Williams played.
