ST PETERSBURG (CBSMiami/AP) — A sad story may have ended even worse if not for some Good Samaritans.
Authorities say bystanders pulled the driver from a burning car after a crash in St. Petersburg that injured one passenger and killed another.
Police say a car driven by 39-year-old Tron L. Morgan veered off the road early Tuesday before hitting two palm trees and flipping over and catching fire.
A report says bystanders pulled Morgan from the car, then helped arriving police officers push the vehicle so they could get 37-year-old Steed C. Garrison out. Garrison's 35-year-old brother Carlos Garrison died on impact.
Police say Steed Garrison and Morgan were taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with serious injuries.
Local news outlets report alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. An investigation continues.
