CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) -- A man in a Mercedes robbed a couple at gunpoint in Coral Gables, police said. Now police are looking for the culprit.

Officers released an image and video of the man they say followed the couple from a nearby well-known restaurant called Versailles.

"So the subject is walking through the restaurant parking lot. He is looking for a victim," said Kelly Denham with Coral Gables Police.

Officers say the same man robbed the couple in their home located near the 800 block of Navarre Avenue on July 20th.

The man was armed with a small, black, semi-auto handgun when he demanded jewelry from them.

"The subject who you see on the surveillance video says in all Spanish 'I want your jewelry, nobody get hurt. I won't kill you,'" said Denham.

Moments later the man fled in a 2015-2017 white 4-door Mercedes-Benz C300 with tinted windows.

The victims gave the cops a spot-on description. That's why detectives were able to pick him out of the restaurant's surveillance video.

"When we got the video and saw him it was like that's him," said Denham.

Investigators describe the man as a white, Hispanic male who only spoke in Spanish, 5'5-5'6, 160-170 pounds, short brown hair, medium complexion, muscular build, 35-45 years of age wearing a black baseball cap, dark jeans and dark T-shirt.

The fact he scoped out his victims at the restaurant is a major concern for patrons who feel comfortable in the area.

"I come here so often I actually don't look around. It is so familiar I feel comfortable around here," said Rod Rodriguez, who frequents Versailles.

Anyone who recognizes the man is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471- TIPS.

"They were not physically hurt, but the emotional scars, they will have to live with forever," said Denham.
