Man Killed In North Miami-Dade Shooting
NORTH MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) – Homicide investigators with the Miami-Dade Police Department are trying to determine the events which led to the murder of a North Miami-Dade man Sunday evening.
"This neighborhood is really quite," said Jose Marques. "I hope this isn't related to any crime or something."
Around 11 p.m. Yonel Gonzalez, 29, was on the second from of his condo in 18000 block of NW 74th Court when he heard a noise. When he went downstairs to see if he could figure out where the noise was coming from, gunfire erupted.
"I heard three or four shots," said next door neighbor Roman Ciprian.
When police and fire rescue arrived they found Gonzalez bleeding from a gunshot wound. He died a short time later.
"He was nice, he was nice, I've been here for about a year and half," said Ciprian.
Some neighbors like Laura Tavera said the shooting left them scared.
"It could have happened to anybody," said Tavera, "It could have happened to my mom."
Neighbors said Gonzalez and his wife lived in the home with three children. According to police, Gonzalez's wife and one child were on the second floor of the condo at the time of the shooting and were not harmed.
Police have not released a description of the shooter.
