MIAMI (CBSMiami) – One man was killed in an overnight shooting in Miami that injured two others.
It happened in front of a market at NW 68th Street and 15th Avenue just after midnight.
Three men were talking in front of store when a group of men came up to them and started shooting.
"The individuals in the group opened fire and the gunmen took off. We don't know where they fled," said Officer Yelitza Cedano, with Miami police.
A witness said they heard 10 to 12 rapid shots.
"We were in our house asleep and the next thing we heard gunshots, that's all I really know. I just see the little guys around, everybody seemed like they was getting along," said Glorida McClure.
Vernesia Avent, the ex-girlfriend of the man who died, identified him as 22-year-old Jarrett Houston. She drove by the scene when she heard what had happened.
"He died over nothing, for no reason. He didn't do anything. He wasn't a bad person. If ya'll know who did it you gotta say something," said Avent. "At the end of the day he had a three year old daughter. If ya'll know something, say something. It's just heart breaking. Ya'll gotta stop the violence one day."
It could have been even more deadly. The bullets left at least six holes on the walls of the store.
There's no word on the conditions of the two other men, ages 19 and 23, who were shot.
Residents who live in the area say they are tired of the violence.
"We gotta love each other. We gotta love God first and then we gotta love each other. Stop all the killing because it don't make no sense," said Glorida McClure.
This area is no stranger to violence. Several weeks ago a woman was shot in her car after she was caught in a crossfire.
"It's bad. It's really sad what's going on," Joe McClure said.
Miami police say at this point they do not have a motive for this shooting or a description of the suspects or who was being targeted.
If you can help Miami police with this case, call them or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $3,000.
