Man Found Dead, Woman Critically Injured In Pembroke Pines Neighborhood
PEMBROKE PINES (CBSMiami) – A woman who was rushed to the hospital after she was found severely injured and incoherent walking along a Pembroke Pines road has been identified by police.
A Miami Gardens police officer was on her way to work just before 8 a.m. when she was flagged down by a person in Emerald Lake Estates Lake community who said a woman was walking the streets who appeared to be bleeding from the head and was disoriented.
When the officer spotted the woman, identified as Judith Meloney Darling, 51, on 101 Way she saw that the woman had severe head trauma from a gunshot wound and was incoherent. The officer called 9-1-1.
The woman was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood where she was rushed into surgery. She is listed in critical but stable condition late Tuesday.
Pembroke Pines police set up a perimeter in community, off Pembroke Road and Palm Avenue, and canvassed the area for a possible shooter or clues to what had happened.
Neighbors were in disbelief watching the medical examiner remove Ferguson's body.
"I have goosebumps," said neighbor Sal Oddo. "We are bewildered."
During the canvass, they found a home in the 1200 block of Sw 102 Avenue where the woman lived. Police said the door was ajar but no one appeared to be home. Inside the home, they found the body of Darling's husband, Victor Ferguson, 79.
Other neighbors said they sensed trouble between the couple.
"He is very controlling," remarked Barbara Sandler who lives across the street.
Sandler said that Ferguson was voted off the Homeowners Association Board because he was often at odds with the neighborhood. "We had enough," said Ferguson.
