Man Gets 6 Months For Luggage Explosion At MIA
MIAMI (CBS4) -- A man arrested at Miami International Airport last December after his luggage exploded has been sentenced to six months in prison.
Upon release, Orville Braham will then spend the next three years on supervised release. Federal sentencing guidelines had called for a roughly three-year sentence.
Braham admitted that he illegally transported bullet primers that ignited in the cargo hold of a jetliner. He pleaded guilty in February to illegal transport of explosive and hazardous materials.
Travel was disrupted Dec. 28 at MIA when Braham's luggage containing some 1,000 bullet primers ignited. Braham was on a Miami stopover between Boston and Jamaica when the incident happened. No one was injured.
