Man Charged In Kendall Drive Bomb Threat Hoax
KENDALL (CBS4) – A bomb threat which forced the closure of a section of North Kendall Drive Saturday evening was nothing more than a hoax.
It all began when 57-year old German Guanchez pulled over his silver sedan on SW 88th Street/N Kendall Drive near an LA Fitness gym, walked inside and told someone there was a bomb in the car, according to Miami-Dade police spokesman Det. Alvaro Zabaleta.
Employees at the gym called police who alerted the department's bomb squad. North Kendall Drive from SW 162nd to SW 167th Avenues was closed to traffic as the bomb squad first used a robot, then one of its members to clear out the vehicle; they found nothing.
Guanchez was arrested and charged with making a bomb threat.
Police said another man who was in the vehicle with Guanchez, but unaware of what was going on, was not charged.
